Abstract
Opisu KNX in DALI sledi predstavitev načina integracije DALI razsvetljave v pametno inštalacijo KNX.

Title:Integration of the DALI Protocol into KNX Smart Installations
Abstract:
At the beginning of the master's thesis low-voltage electrical installations and particularly smart electrical installations are presented. The advantages of smart installations are described and reasons for their use instead of conventional electrical installations are explained. Various smart installation systems are presented, including the KNX standard. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana already has a KNX smart installation training board, however, it previously did not include a DALI lighting control system. The main objective of this master's thesis was to integrate DALI lighting control into the existing KNX smart installation on the training board. Following the introductory overview of low-voltage and smart electrical installations, the thesis provides a detailed presentation of the KNX system, including device addressing, topology, transmission media, and other essential characteristics. The DALI standard is presented in a similar manner. The descriptions of KNX and DALI are followed by an explanation of the integration of DALI lighting control into a KNX smart installation. Three theoretical case studies of real-world buildings were presented, taking into account the control requirements and the limitations of both systems. The case studies were selected so that each highlights specific limitations of the KNX and/or DALI standards. The final part of the master's thesis describes the upgrade of the KNX training board by integrating a DALI lighting control system. The initial state of the training board is presented, the newly added components are described and their wiring is illustrated. After all components had been installed, the desired way of operation was defined and implemented. The final result was a fully functional KNX training board with an integrated DALI system, which can be operated locally using push buttons and control panels, as well as via a smartphone application. Detailed instructions were also prepared, enabling students to independently perform the integration and achieve the same results.
