Abstract

Title:Energy renovation of an old residential house using modern methods
Abstract:
Older residential houses represent an important part of the Slovenian building stock and often do not meet current energy efficiency requirements. This thesis analyses an older residential house in Ljubljana using the URSA Building Physics software. Based on the calculated existing energy performance, three renovation variants were evaluated: thermal renovation of the facade and roof, installation of an air-to-water heat pump, and installation of a photovoltaic system. The results showed that the existing building does not meet the requirements regarding the specific transmission heat loss coefficient and annual heating demand. The calculated value of H′$_{T}$ is 0.546 W/(m²·K), while the annual heating demand is 102.32 kWh/(m²·a). The greatest technical effect was achieved by the renovation of the building envelope, reducing total heat losses from 248.52 W/K to 130.12 W/K. The economic comparison showed that the photovoltaic system has the shortest simple payback period, namely 16.1 years. The analysis indicates that a combination of reducing heat losses and producing electricity on site would be the most meaningful approach for a comprehensive energy renovation.
