Radiological protection of workers gives procedures on how to protect people from radiation or how to avoid radiation. Its task is also to control the exposure of workers to radiation, prevent the spread of radiation sources, carry out measurements in the working environment and protect workers. In my diploma thesis, I presented basic information about radioactive radiation, explanations of what types of radiation we know and their impact on the human body. I described the ways in which we measure radiation, and how we are exposed to radiation when working in a radiologically controlled area. I also presented the ways in which we protect ourselves from radiation and presented legislation in this area. In my research work, I obtained radiological measurements from the workplace where maintenance work on the valve was carried out at the company Nuclear Power Plant Krško d.o.o. Using the data obtained, I calculated the predicted exposure of workers without prescribed protective measures. In view of the measured radiation conditions, the company ordered the necessary protective measures and PPE for the contractors, in accordance with the ALARA principles. A maximum dose was also set for each worker. At the end of the work, I obtained the actual doses received from the dosimeters of the workers and compared them with the calculated doses without protective measures and prepared a brief analysis of the findings.
