The aim of this thesis is to monitor changes in the dimensional characteristics of a bore in the examined component throughout the entire manufacturing process in the company and to improve process control using statistical methods. The theoretical part presents the fundamentals of turning, vacuum hardening and honing, as well as methods of statistical process control and process capability evaluation. The experimental part describes the manufacturing process, which includes turning, preparation for vacuum hardening, vacuum hardening and honing, as well as the acquisition of the required measurements of the examined component’s characteristics after each manufacturing operation. The collected measurement data were analysed using control charts, other statistical methods and process capability indices. Based on the results, the stability of the individual manufacturing operations was evaluated. The analysis enables a more appropriate determination of the through-bore diameter during the preparation of the component for vacuum hardening and contributes to improved control of the entire manufacturing process.
