In this bachelor's thesis, we analyzed the design and operation of an electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT). The introduction is composed of a theoretical overview of the European Union's environmental requirements regarding vehicle exhaust impurities. The beginning of the thesis also includes the historical background and theoretical principles of planetary gear sets, which are the main component of the eCVT transmission. The main part of the thesis explains the operating principles of the eCVT transmission, its other key components, its lubrication and presents specific examples of its application in passenger vehicles and other commercially available products. The ending summarizes the main findings of the theoretical research and the review of relevant professional and scientific literature.
