Abstract

Title:Introduction to tractography
Abstract:
Tractography is an advanced diagnostic imaging method used to visualize the pathways of nerve fibers in the cerebral white matter based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It enables the investigation of neurological diseases and simplifies surgical planning. As part of the diploma thesis, we explored and presented various tractography methods of tractography. We first described the theoretical background, covering the physical principles and historical development of the field, and then focused on preprocessing methods, reconstruction of nerve fiber directions, and fiber tracking. In the practical section, we implemented and tested the entire pipeline, which includes image preprocessing, fiber direction reconstruction, and fiber tracking. The results obtained are comparable to existing solutions in this field, confirming the validity of the implemented system.

Keywords:tractography, diffusion-weighted imaging, constrained spherical deconvolution
