Abstract
Velikost UGO smo izrazili s površino in številom prebivalcev ter jih primerjali s površinami razvojnih oziroma statističnih regij. Središča regij smo nato razvrstili v pet hierarhičnih razredov. Rezultati kažejo na izrazito prevlado Ljubljane, saj k njej gravitira 86 občin, ki obsegajo 56 % površine Slovenije. Urbana gravitacijska območja Maribora in Celja prav tako presegajo meje svojih statističnih regij, medtem ko imajo ostala središča predvsem lokalni vpliv.

Title:Delineation of urban gravitational zones of the centres of development regions in Slovenia using a multi-criteria approach and the Huff's model
Abstract:
In this thesis, we examined the delineation of urban gravitational zones of the twelve centres of Slovenia’s development regions and their classification into hierarchical ranks. A combination of GIS-based multi-criteria analysis and the Huff model was applied. Based on ten functions, spatial and statistical data were obtained from various sources, integrated into a geodatabase, topologically verified, standardized, and weighted. On this basis, a Gravity Index (GI) was calculated, representing the attractiveness of an individual centre and serving as an input variable for the Huff model. Based on the GI values and the distances between centres, the Huff model calculates the probability of individual areas gravitating towards a selected centre. Municipalities and statistical regions were assigned to the development region centre with the highest calculated probability of gravitation. Based on these probabilities, urban gravitational zones (UGZ) were delineated. The size of the UGZ was expressed in terms of area and population and compared with the areas of statistical regions. The centres of development regions were then classified into five hierarchical ranks. The results indicate the pronounced dominance of Ljubljana, as 86 municipalities gravitate towards it, covering 56% of Slovenia’s total area. The urban gravitational zones of Maribor and Celje also extend beyond the boundaries of their statistical regions, while the remaining centres mainly exert local influence. Ljubljana was classified into the highest hierarchical rank, Maribor into the second, Celje and Kranj into the third, Koper, Murska Sobota, and Nova Gorica into the fourth, while the remaining centres were classified into the fifth hierarchical rank.
