S pokristjanjevanjem povezane družbene spremembe pri Karantancih

V razpravi je najprej opozorjeno na evropski pomen pokristjanjenja Karantancev, ki je bilo prvo v slovanskem svetu. Nato sta predstavljena pomen romanskih staroselcev za preživetje krščanske vere v času slovanske gentilne religioznosti med pozno antiko in drugo evangelizacijo noriško-karantanskega prostora ter vloga, ki so jo imeli na samem začetku pokristjanjevanja Karantancev. V glavnem delu razprave so predstavljene velike spremembe, ki jih je v vsakdanje življenje posameznika kot celotne družbe prinesel sprejem krščanstva, medtem ko je v zaključnem delu opozorjeno na integrativno vlogo krščanstva pri preseganju razlik, ki so ločevale etnične in socialne skupine znotraj frankovsko-karolinškega cesarstva.

• Title: Christianization and social changes among the Carantanians

Abstract

The article first draws attention to the European significance of the Christianization of the Carantanians as the first such process in the Slavic world. It then presents the importance of the Romance indigenous population for the survival of the Christian faith during the period of Slavic paganism between late antiquity and the second evangelization of the Norican–Carantanian region, as well as the role they played at the very beginning of the Christianization of the Carantanians. The main part of the discussion presents the major changes that the acceptance of Christianity brought to the everyday life of the individual as well as to society as a whole, while the conclusion highlights the integrative role of Christianity in overcoming differences that separated ethnic and social groups within the Frankish-Carolingian Empire.
