Abstract
Analiza vključuje pregled strokovne literature, pravnih aktov Evropske unije in javno dostopnih podatkov o delovanju izbranega poslanca, vključno z njegovimi zakonodajnimi aktivnostmi ter političnimi pobudami.

Title:Analysis of the competences and activities of a selected Member of the European Parliament in the field of human rights
Abstract:
This thesis examines the activities of a Member of the European Parliament in the field of fundamental rights. The research addresses the broader issue of understanding the actual influence of individual Members on the policymaking process in the European Union, particularly in the area of human rights. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the competences and activities of a selected Member and assess their impact on legislative and political processes. The research is based on descriptive-analytical approach. The methods used include content analysis, descriptive and comparatice methods, and interpretative analysis. The study is based on a review of academic literature, EU legal documents, and publicly available data on the selected Member's activities, including legislative work and political initiatives. The findings show that the influence o fan individual Member in the field of fundamental rights is mostly indirect and depends on cooperation within political groups, committees, and legislative procedure. Members can influence policymaking through amendments, debates, initiatives, and cooperation with other actors, although their impact is limited by the institutional framework of the European Union. The thesis contributes to a better understanding of the role of Members of the European Parliament in the protection of fundamental rights. Its practical value lies in improving the understanding of EU institutional functioning and policymaking, which is relevant for the public sector, researchers, and the wider public. A limitation of the research is its focus on a single case, suggesting the need for further comparative studies.
