The construction industry plays a crucial role in shaping the built environment and everyday life. At its core lies the construction process, composed of interconnected phases—from the initial idea and planning , execution and completion of the project with the start of use of the constructed facility. The quality and success of a build depend on how well these phases and the participators are aligned and coordinated. This thesis describes and analyses the key phases of the construction process as well as the external influences that increasingly shape it. Economic fluctuations, environmental requirements, and technological change are decisive factors affecting construction projects today. Particularly important are digital tools such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and technological advances including robotization and 3D printing, which open up many new opportunities. The analysis shows that planning and execution are the phases most sensitive to external influences, as they directly affect construction cost, time, and quality. The construction process is not static but continuously adapts to circumstances—it is dynamic. Looking ahead, a successful construction industry will depend on strong collaboration among all participants, the adoption of new technologies, and sustainable approaches that enable more efficient and more resilient building.
