Abstract
Primerjane so možnosti širitve stanovanjske gradnje, oblikovanja novega središča in vzpostavitve centralnega parka.

Title:Boundary space – absence of identity : an urban design exploration of establishing a new central area for the settlements of Lesce and Radovljica
Abstract:
In contemporary spatial development, intermediate areas between settlements are becoming increasingly important, as they often reveal tensions between urban expansion, infrastructure and the preservation of local identity. This graduation thesis examines the area on the boundary between Lesce and Radovljica, which, despite its strategic position between two important settlements of the Municipality of Radovljica, remains programmatically undefined, spatially unclear and without a distinct sense of belonging. Radovljica functions mainly as an administrative, cultural and educational centre, while Lesce has a stronger transport, industrial and commercial role. The space between them is therefore not formed as a common area, but as a gap between two identities. The thesis understands the boundary as a space of possibility, not merely as a line of separation. Through theoretical research, spatial analyses and the evaluation of three design variants, it examines how an intermediate space can become connective, usable and recognisable. The tested scenarios include housing expansion, the creation of a new centre and the establishment of a central park. The final proposal introduces a central park with the Museum of Gorenjska Excellence, pedestrian and cycling connections, a green overpass and complementary public programmes. The project preserves the openness of the area while activating it as a space of movement, encounter and shared use. The boundary between Lesce and Radovljica is not erased, but transformed into an active threshold between two identities.
