Abstract

Title:Comprehensive Revitalization of Demographically Endangered Cities Using GeographicInformation Systems – The Case of Hrastnik
Abstract:
This thesis explores the possibilities of comprehensive revitalization of demographical ly vulnerable towns through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), using the town of Hrastnik as a case study. Based on demographic, spatial, and urban analyses, as well as location evaluation using GIS tools, a suitable site was selected for the development of an intergenerational neighborhood. The proposed urban design integrates residential, service, and community-oriented programs and is founded on the principles of sustainable development, high-quality public space, and intergenerational connectivity. The thesis highlights the importance of an analytical approach in site selection and demonstrates the role of geoinformation methods as effective support tools in contemporary spatial and urban planning.
