Abstract
Raznolike gibalne dejavnosti v različnih okoljih otrokom omogočajo raziskovanje, reševanje problemov, sodelovanje z vrstniki ter pridobivanje izkušenj, s katerimi oblikujejo njihov odnos do gibanja in športnega udejstvovanja v poznejših življenjskih obdobjih.

Title:Movement games and cognitive challenges for preschool children
Abstract:
In this master's thesis, we presented a collection of activity cards consisting of 25 physical games and 25 cognitive challenges. We also highlighted the importance of physical activity in the preschool period and its role in children's holistic development, as well as the importance of providing a daily movement-rich environment. We found that physical activity not only contributes to the development of motor skills and abilities but also has a significant impact on cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Diverse physical activities in different environments enable children to explore, solve problems, cooperate with peers, and gain experiences that shape their attitudes towards movement and sports participation later in life. The collection of activity cards integrates the field of physical activity with mathematics, language, nature, society, and the arts, while supporting the implementation of the goals outlined in the preschool curriculum. Due to their structured design, the cards can be used in various educational settings and adapted to the age and abilities of children. Each activity card consists of two parts: a physical task and a cognitive challenge. In addition, every card includes a cognitive task in the form of a worksheet, featuring different types of activities. To facilitate understanding and implementation, each activity card contains a task description, a list of required materials, clearly defined objectives, and possible adaptations and suggestions for more effective implementation. The activity cards are practically applicable, as their content can support preschool teachers, physical education teachers, parents, and all those working with young children. The physical tasks and cognitive challenges are also suitable for younger children attending the first cycle of primary school.
