Diploma thesis deals with the design of umbrella rental machines as a functional and sustainable solution for urban spaces. People’s frequent unpreparedness for sudden rain leads to impulsive purchases of cheap, poor-quality umbrellas, which later increases the amount of waste. Therefore, umbrella rental services are a better alternative for the environment.
During the analysis, data was collected on existing solutions, rain, umbrellas, people’s habits, and today’s rental culture. Based on the analysis, the starting points for the development of the vending machine were formed.
The end result is an umbrella rental machine that enables quick, simple, and functional umbrella rental and return. This thesis is not intended solely for academic purposes, but is also a possible solution for the start-up company Pljuska, which would deal with umbrella rental in Croatia.
