This master's thesis explores the possibilities of implementing alternative signal control practices at signalized intersections in Ljubljana. The city center faces increasing traffic loads, with high concentrations of motor vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists converging at intersections. The rising number of all groups of road users leads to frequent conflict situations, which negatively impact both traffic flow and, above all, road safety. Since spatial constraints in urban environments typically do not allow for the expansion of road infrastructure, the optimization of signal control is becoming a key factor for effective traffic management. Using the Sidra Intersection software tool, a capacity analysis of the existing state and selected alternative regimes was performed at four signalized intersections located within the so-called Fabiani Ring (the inner city ring road). Based on a comparison of the results, the impact of the proposed measures on the average delays of all participants and the improvement of overall traffic safety is evaluated.
