Abstract

Title:
J.S.Bach - Toccata and fugue BWV 565 in d-minor: historical outline and analysis of particularities of transcriptions for harp
Abstract:
The master's thesis entitled J. S. Bach – Toccata and Fugue BWV 565 in D minor: historical overview and analysis of the peculiarities of arrangements for harp will focus on the historical and theoretical aspects of composition as an art form. Special attention will be paid to the development of compositional principles from the baroque period. We will analyse the peculiarities of two arrangements for harp and highlight their unique performance practices. We will link theoretical elements with practical examples from these arrangements in order to gain a comprehensive overview of this composition as an arrangement for harp. The work will thus offer insight into a complex and multifaceted musical process.
