The concept of career has been defined in various ways throughout history. From the traditional definition of the concept, where a career represented full employment, a stable career path, and represented vertical advancement, to the modern designation, where career paths are uneven, full employment is rare, and horizontal advancement is present.
In the theoretical part of the thesis, we presented the basic concepts of career, forms and types of career paths, and factors that influence their development. We presented career theories in more detail and defined the Erasmus+ program, connected it to career development, and presented the benefits, challenges, and long-term effects of the program. The empirical part of the thesis included the analysis of an online survey, with the help of which we investigated whether the Erasmus+ program has an impact on career development, soft skills, and competitiveness in the labor market.
Analysis of the respondents' responses showed that the Erasmus+ program has a positive impact on career development, the development of soft skills, and competitiveness in the labor market. Although none of the hypotheses could be confirmed due to the insignificant statistical difference between the two groups, respondents who participated in the Erasmus+ program assessed their experience as positive and useful for their personal and professional development.
The thesis highlights the small sample size of respondents as a key limitation of the research. Despite the small sample size, the results offer opportunities for improvement and recommendations for further research in this area. One of the proposals is to analyze the long-term effects of participation in the Erasmus+ program and thereby determine whether participation also has a broader impact on the career development of an individual.
