Prehrana divjih prašičev in vpliv njihovega plenjenja na smrtnost mladičev parkljarjev v Sloveniji

Abstract
Divji prašič (Sus scrofa L.) je oportunistični vsejed z izjemno možnostjo prilagajanja svoje prehrane glede na razmere v okolju. Izvedena raziskava se je osredotočala tako na prehrano divjih prašičev, kot tudi na njihov vpliv na druge vrste, predvsem na srnjad (Capreolus capreolus). Z analizo prehrane smo ugotavljali, kako pogosto se mladiči srnjadi znajdejo na jedilniku divjih prašičev, če sploh se. Vzorce želodcev smo zbirali med majem in julijem leta 2021 na Primorskem LUO. Vzorce smo stehtali, vsebino kvalitativno pregledali, sprali skozi siti, opravili morfološko analizo vsebine grobe frakcije in jo razdelili na morfološke podkategorije. Posamezne podkategorije smo dvakrat sušili, tehtali, zabeležili v Microsoft Excel in analizirali ter statistično obdelali v programu R Project. V pozno spomladanskem in zgodno poletnem času se divji prašiči večinoma prehranjujejo s hrano rastlinskega izvora, ki je izjemno energijsko ugodna in lahko dostopna, kar pa ne pomeni, da se hrana živalskega izvora ne znajde na njihovem jedilniku. Ta je v naši raziskavi predstavljala majhen delež celotne prehrane (5,6 %), a je bila vseeno pogosta sestavina v prehrani divjih prašičev na Primorskem LUO. Med tkivi, kostmi in dlakami, ki so pripadale parkljarjem – predvsem srnjadi – smo v naši analizi vsebine želodcev zaznali tudi parkelj mladiča srnjadi, s čimer smo potrdili, da obstaja verjetnost, da divji prašiči kot oportunistični plenilci lahko neposredno vplivajo tudi na populacije srnjadi, predvsem v obdobjih porasta populacij zaradi velikega obroda želoda in žira.

Title:Food spectrum of wild boars and influence of their predation on mortality of ungulate offspring in Slovenia
Abstract:
The wild boar (Sus scrofa) is an opportunistic omnivore with an exceptional ability to adjust its diet according to environmental conditions. The conducted study focused both on the diet of wild boar and on their impact on other species, particularly roe deer (Capreolus capreolus). Through dietary analysis, we aimed to determine how often roe deer fawns appear on the menu of wild boar, if at all. Stomach samples were collected between May and July 2021 in the Primorska hunting management district (LUO). The samples were weighed, their contents qualitatively examined, washed through sieves, and subjected to a morphological analysis of the coarse fraction, which was then divided into morphological subcategories. Each subcategory was dried twice, weighed, recorded in Microsoft Excel, and analysed and statistically processed in R Project. In late spring and early summer, wild boar mostly feed on plant-based food, which is highly energy-efficient and easily accessible; however, this does not mean that animal-based food is absent from their diet. In our study, it accounted for a small proportion of the overall diet (5.6%), yet it was still a frequent component of the diet of wild boar in the Primorska LUO. Among the tissues, bones, and hairs belonging to ungulates—primarily roe deer—we detected in our stomach content analysis the hoof of a roe deer fawn. This confirms that wild boar, as opportunistic predators, may directly impact roe deer populations, particularly during periods of population increase caused by abundant acorn and beech mast production.
