This thesis explores the possibilities of storytelling in an interactive medium through the design and production of a short 3D game. The main goal of the practical part was to create a game in which the narrative develops primarily through environmental exploration, atmospheric storytelling, and the gradual discovery of information during gameplay. The central motif of the game is the search for a lost dog, which functions as a narrative framework for exploring the protagonist’s inner world and her relationship with home, the past, and personal identity. The game combines elements of realism and symbolic motifs and draws inspiration from classical narrative structures and motifs of Slavic folklore. Through three main locations – the village, the forest, and a new village – the player gradually enters the protagonist’s world and reconstructs the broader meaning of the story through exploration and following clues. The theoretical part includes an analysis of different types of narratives in video games and the elements that function as carriers of storytelling within the interactive medium. Particular attention is given to environmental storytelling and spatial design as important ways of conveying narrative. The thesis demonstrates the potential of video games as an artistic medium for exploring personal themes while also analyzing the production process of a small independent game developed with limited resources.
