Implementation of an optimized solution to the problems of asynchronous and synchronous communication between web services

The paper compares the synchronous and asynchronous communication of services in a notification generating business process. Focusing on a service-to-service communication and demonstrating a migration process from the synchronous to the asynchronous communication. The performance is measured and potential issues are identified for certain approaches throughout the entire process. By comparing the performance and highlighting the potential problems the question is answered which communication type is a better choice for a particular case. The comparison result helps programmers understand the synchronous and asynchronous communication through practical examples and supports them in their making decision. During the migration process, the service remains the same, only the communication pattern changes.

Abstract

V članku primerjamo sinhrono in asinhrono komunikacijo med spletnimi storitvami na primeru procesa generiranja obvestil. Predstavljen je postopek migracije iz sinhrone v asinhrono komunikacijo, pri čemer spremljamo zmogljivost in identificiramo morebitne težave. Na podlagi rezultatov ocenjujemo, katera komunikacijska strategija je primernejša. Prispevek ponuja praktičen vpogled v delovanje obeh pristopov ter služi kot podpora razvijalcem pri odločanju v realnih sistemih. Poslovna logika storitev ostaja nespremenjena, spreminja se le komunikacijski vzorec.
