In this master's thesis, I dealt with the issue of bushings. Bushings represent a large share of failures in power transformers. Regular monitoring and maintenance are required. We examined the suitability of the Frequency Dielectric Spectroscopy (FDS) method for determining the condition of a bushing.
In the theoretical part, I presented the basic characteristics of bushings, their function, and the importance of assessing the condition of insulation. Furthermore, I described the measurement method using frequency dielectric spectroscopy, its principle of operation, and its use in the analysis of dielectric properties of materials. I compared different methods for diagnosing bushings and described the influence of moisture and temperature on measurements using the FDS method.
In the experimental part, I performed measurements of bushings in operation using the FDS method. The obtained results were analyzed and presented in graphical form. Based on the analysis of the measurements, I determined threshold values that provide additional and clearer monitoring of the condition of bushings. These threshold values enable easier decision-making regarding further actions when dealing with a bushing.
