This thesis presents the design and development of a multipurpose tabletop gaming table, which aims to improve the gaming experience for various types of games, including card games, board games, role-playing games, and wargames. The project begins with an analysis of the spatial, ergonomic, and material requirements of each category, supported by interviews with active players to identify common problems such as limited space, clutter, lack of storage space, and the need for durable, clean surfaces. Existing high-quality gaming tables were reviewed to assess market trends, functional characteristics, and limitations.
The design process prioritized modularity, flexibility, and simplicity. The final concept includes a removable edge and fastening system, built-in storage space, and the use of solid, high-quality wood for durability, comfort, and aesthetic appeal, with the option of microfiber covers for added game protection. This combination allows the table to transition seamlessly between gaming and other everyday uses. By combining ergonomic design, versatile functionality, and visual appeal, the table meets the practical needs and desires of various gaming communities to immerse themselves in their games.
