Abstract
V teoretičnem delu diplomskega dela najprej predstaviva pomen igre in različne vrste iger, natančneje opiševa družabne igre in igre s pravili.

Title:Building social skills through rule-based games
Abstract:
Play is a fundamental activity of childhood. Through play, children learn rules, build relationships, develop self-confidence and prepare for participation in society. Social skills, which enable cooperation, adaptation, conflict resolution and effective communication, are of particular importance during this period. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis, the importance of play and different types of play are first presented, with a more detailed focus on board games and games with rules. Particular attention is given to the concept of rules. The final part of the theoretical section addresses social skills in the preschool period. The empirical part of the study is based on an original board game in which children collaboratively create the rules before playing. The aim of the game is to encourage communication, negotiation and cooperation. A systematic observation of 24 preschool children was conducted. The study examined the effects of repeated playing of a board game on children’s social development. The results of the research indicate that repeated playing is beneficial for children, as it contributes to the development of their social skills.
