Abstract
Uvod: Natančno matematično računanje predstavlja ključno kompetenco v zdravstveni negi, zlasti pri varnem dajanju zdravil. Študenti zdravstvene nege se pri računanju odmerkov, pretvorbah merskih enot in določanju hitrosti pretoka infuzij pogosto srečujejo s težavami, ki lahko vodijo v napake in ogrozijo varnost pacientov. Razvoj digitalnih orodij ponuja nove možnosti za podporo učenju in izboljšanje matematičnih spretnosti. Digitalna orodja lahko študentom omogočijo jasno strukturiran učni proces, ki omogoča ponavljanje snovi in zmanjšanje kognitivne obremenitve pri reševanju zahtevnejših nalog. Namen: Namen diplomskega dela je razviti enostaven digitalni pripomoček v slovenskem jeziku, namenjen podpori pri preračunavanju odmerkov zdravil študentov zdravstvene nege, in ga preizkusiti v realnem učnem okolju. Metode dela: Raziskava je bila izvedena z uporabo metodologije akcijsko usmerjenega raziskovanja z razvojem pripomočka. Oblikovan je bil digitalni pripomoček, namenjen podpori pri računanju zdravil. V empiričnem delu je sodelovalo 88 študentov tretjega letnika zdravstvene nege, razdeljenih v testno in kontrolno skupino. Testna skupina je imela na voljo digitalni pripomoček v obliki aplikacije za računanje zdravil, kontrolna skupina pa je naloge reševala brez digitalne podpore. Analizirani so bili čas reševanja nalog in dosežene ocene, kar je omogočilo objektivno primerjavo uspešnosti obeh skupin. Rezultati: Pomemben rezultat raziskave predstavlja razviti pripomoček, ki se je skozi zaporedne preizkušnje postopno nadgrajeval in izboljševal. Rezultati izvedene raziskave niso pokazali statistično pomembnih razlik med testno in kontrolno skupino glede povprečnega časa reševanja nalog in doseženih ocen. Kljub temu so bili pridobljeni pomembni podatki o uporabni vrednosti in podporni funkciji digitalnega pripomočka. Razprava in zaključek: Digitalna orodja lahko pomembno prispevajo k razvoju matematičnih spretnosti študentov zdravstvene nege, vendar njihov učinek ni samoumeven. Ključni dejavniki so didaktična zasnova, stopnja interaktivnosti in smiselna vključitev v učni proces. Raziskava poudarja pomen postopnega razvoja digitalnih pripomočkov v realnem učnem okolju ter predstavlja izhodišče za nadaljnji razvoj in raziskovanje digitalnih orodij v izobraževanju zdravstvene nege. Posebno vrednost predstavlja razvoj digitalnega pripomočka v slovenskem jeziku, saj ta izboljšuje razumevanje vsebin, zmanjšuje možnost napačne interpretacije in/ali prevoda in povečuje dostopnost ter uporabnost digitalnih orodij v slovenskih izobraževalnih ustanovah.

Title:Development of a digital tool to support the learning of mathematical skills of nursing students : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Accurate mathematical calculation represents a key competence in nursing, particularly in relation to the safe administration of medication. Nursing students frequently encounter difficulties when calculating drug dosages, converting units of measurement, and determining infusion rates, which may lead to errors and compromise patient safety. The development of digital tools offers new opportunities to support learning and enhance mathematical skills. Digital tools can provide students with a clearly structured learning process that enables repetition of content and reduces cognitive load when solving more complex tasks. Purpose: The purpose of this diploma thesis is to develop and test a simple digital tool in the Slovenian language in a real educational environment to promote the learning of mathematical skills among nursing students. Methods: The study was conducted using an action-oriented research methodology with artifact development. A digital tool designed to support medication calculation was developed. The empirical part of the study included 88 third year nursing students, divided into an experimental and a control group. The experimental group could use a digital tool in the form of a medication calculation application, while the control group completed the task without digital support. Task completion time and achieved scores were analysed, enabling an objective comparison of performance between the two groups. Results: A key outcome of the study was the developed tool, which was progressively upgraded and improved throughout successive testing phases. The results of this study did not demonstrate statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in terms of average task completion time or achieved scores. Nevertheless, valuable data was obtained regarding the practical value and supportive functions of the digital tool. Discussion and conclusion: Digital tools can make an important contribution to the development of nursing students’ mathematical skills; however, their effectiveness cannot be assumed. Key factors include instructional design, level of interactivity, and meaningful integration into the teaching process. The study highlights the importance of the gradual development of digital tools in real educational settings and provides the foundation for further development and research into digital tools in nursing education. Value is attributed to the development of digital tools in the national language, as this improves content comprehension, reduces the risk of misinterpretation, and increases the ability and usability of digital tools within Slovenian educational institutions.
