Abstract
Besedilo primerja mitološko poetski svet Homerskih himen in Pindarjeve slavospeve.

Title:Pindar and Homeric hymns : mythic time and birth of historical consciousness
Abstract:
The text compares the mythological-poetic worlds of Homer’s hymns and Pindar’s eulo-gies. The main thesis of the article is that the Homeric hymns contain a fairy-tale nar-rative, while Pindar’s poetry, especially condensed around the motif of victory in the sporting games, in its infancy opens up the rudiments of a historical consciousness. This, in turn, establishes a literary work of art distinct from the ritually narrative myth. The article briefly points out that myths remain open to multiple interpretations. It also draws attention to the symbolism of sport and its contemporary manifestation in secular form.

Keywords:Pindar, myth, victory, kairos, entire reality, to alter the state of consciousness
