Abstract
V drugem delu prispevka so osvetljene specifičnosti starosti in staranja. V tretjem delu so podani primeri dobrih praks slovenskih splošnih knjižnic.

Title:Reading groups for the elderly in Slovenian public libraries
Abstract:
The topic of the paper is reading groups for the elderly users in public libraries. The population is ageing all over the world and libraries are also experiencing a need for programmes that are adapted to the elderly population. One of the important activities in public libraries are reading groups and it is important to adapt the groups to the needs and specificities of elderly people. The paper is divided into three parts. The first part presents the importance of reading, based on the literature. The second part of the paper highlights the specificities of age and ageing. In the third part, examples of good practice in Slovenian public libraries are given. The review was carried out on the basis of the websites of Slovenian public libraries, with the help of reference librarians and with professional literature. It is evident that Slovenian public libraries mostly offer reading groups for adult readers, in which retired citizens also participate. Only in some libraries are there reading groups exclusively for elderly readers. This is the first paper dealing with reading groups for the elderly in Slovenian public libraries.
