Abstract
S prikazom popisane zapuščine želimo pritegniti vse tipe knjižnic k delu z zapuščinami, odkrivanju strokovnih in splošno zanimivih informacij v njih ter posredovanju odkritij javnosti.

Title:Organizing a manuscript legacy for beginners, using the example of the linguist and librarian Luka Pintar
Abstract:
Purpose: The purpose of the article is to show librarians the way to obtain information for the proper collection and storage of legacies provided by the National and University Library Restoration Center, and for their bibliographic processing, for which they can be trained at National and University Library in the Course for Cataloguing Manuscripts and Legacies and the Course for Cataloguing Old Materials (published from 1501 to 1850). The latter provides training for obtaining a D license for cataloguing materials in the Cobiss system. All necessary professional assistance is provided by the employees of the National and University Library Manuscript Collection and the National and University Library Restoration Center. By displaying the cataloged legacies, we want to attract all types of libraries to work with legacies, discover professional and generally interesting information in them, and communicate discoveries to the public. Methodology: In the first part of the research, a study of the existing literature on the professional processing of manuscripts and legacies in general was made. A modular scheme with defined chapters for the classification and inventory of materials was obtained. In the second part, a study was carried out of the previously donated parts of Luka Pintar’s legacy. In the third part, an editing and current inventory of the legacy of Luka Pintar and two descendants and one member of family Kobilca, acquired in 2023, was carried out, in accordance with established standards. Results: From the first part of the research, a modular scheme with defined chapters for the classification and inventory of materials was obtained. In the second part of the research, 8 previous gifts of Luka Pintar’s legacy were discovered, together with the legacy of descendants from 2023, Luka Pintar’s legacy today comprises 2,236 units. Finally, 1,111 units of Luka Pintar’s legacy and descendants were entered into the inventory book of manuscripts and legacies under inventory number 41/2024. After the editor’s review, the inventory will be included in the online Catalogue of Manuscripts and Legacies, and selected materials will be digitized and accessible via the Digital Library of Slovenia. Limitations of the research: The rest of the legacy from 2023 contains documents and works of four people, which required an extensive study of their lives and work for a reliable classification of the documents. Originality/usefulness of the research: A model for working with legacies is described and a standardized inventory of the diverse legacy is attached. Interesting content excerpts from letters and correspondence provide insight into important events from the second half of the 19th century, of interest to the general public, which should encourage librarians to collect and professionally organize legacies and publish the results of their examination and research.
