Abstract

Title:Reduced forms of verbal and pronominal clitics in the case of the Šentrupert Eastern Lower Carniolan subdialect
Abstract:
The paper deals with the merging into a consonant (or one syllable) of weakened verbal and pronominal clitics with other clitics in the clitic cluster, and their merging into new phonetic words with stressed words (e.g. Una-j tərdila, de-jh je vidla, pa kuanc; Prav-cajt ga-muo šli pužjèt; Pêd kədàl,pa-vš dubu kèj). Therefore, only clitics in new phonetic words are discussed, and these can also still be clitics. We have called them bounded clitics despite the fact that they are either still clitics or only one part of the clitics is stressed, while the other is stressed under word stress or sentence stress. The terms proclitics and enclitics are used here for the first and second parts of a bounded clitics. The formation of bounded clitics is possible in those dialects that have a high degree of weakening of short vowels in very different forms of occurrence, especially muteness, as these cause them. The Šentrupert dialect, which belongs to the Eastern Lower Carniolan subdialect of the Lower Carniolan dialect, was therefore chosen as the focal case, for which there is also sufficient appropriately written textual material available.
