The master's thesis focuses on the entry and processing of serial publications of the Slovenian National Library into the local COBISS+ catalogue, where the analysis of entered serial publications and interviews with Slovenian cataloguers presented the characteristics and challenges that arise during the inventory and cataloguing of serial publications. The purpose of the work was to
determine which serial publications the Slovenian National Library contained and how they were organized, along with the specifics that serial cataloguers face. To obtain the results, the stock of serial publications of the Slovenian National Library was first inventoried and entered. Then, in
February and March 2025, interviews were conducted with eight Slovenian cataloguers employed in public, academic, special and national library that deal with the cataloguing and inventory of continuous resources. The results showed that the Slovenian National Library had Slovenian ethnic
newspapers, American and Slovenian newspapers, which did not have a systematic arrangement. Slovenian catalogers face the biggest challenge in processing serials due to the constant changes in continuous resources, for which they rely on prescribed manuals and standards, but prefer to rely
on training notes. They want less rigor and greater uniformity from the new upcoming cataloguing
rules.
