To address the rapid development of computer science, the reviewed coursebook provides a professional insight into the required knowledge and skills in this field/area. The coursebook English for Computer Science – Part I, the first part of the planned trilogy, complemented by Power Up Zone – Part I, an interactive and supplementary section, was designed to equip university students with the language skills and technical vocabulary needed to master their field of study, specifically in the context of English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), and General English (GE), aiming to blend English language learning with practical, industry-relevant content, fostering both linguistic proficiency as well as technical competence. The coursebook, with its regularly updateable handouts and accessible materials in the virtual learning environment, (VLE) ensures that students stay informed of current developments in the world of computer science.

Abstract

Učbenik English for Computer Science Part I (Angleščina v računalništvu – 1. del) ponuja strokoven in sodoben vpogled v hitro razvijajoče se področje računalništva ter z njim povezano znanje in spretnosti. Predstavlja prvi del trilogije, ki vključuje tudi interaktivni dodatek PowerUp Zone – Part I. Cilj učbenika je opremiti študente in študentke z jezikovnimi spretnostmi in strokovnim besediščem, ki sta potrebna za uspešno obvladovanje njihovega študijskega področja, zlasti v kontekstu angleščine za akademske namene, angleščine kot tujega jezika stroke ter splošne angleščine. Učbenik si prizadeva povezati učenje angleškega jezika s praktičnimi vsebinami, relevantnimi za gospodarsko okolje, ter spodbujati tako jezikovno kot tehnično usposobljenost študentov in študentk, obenem pa z redno posodabljajočimi se delovnimi listi in gradivi, dostopnimi v virtualnem učnem okolju, omogoča, da študenti in študentke ostajajo v stiku z aktualnimi trendi in dogajanji na področju računalništva.
