TITLE: AI for French for Specific Purposes: Between Innovation and Didactic Challenges \ ABSTRACT: This article examines the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) into the teaching of French for Specific Purposes (FOS), with a particular focus on veterinary medicine. While research on AI in language education is rapidly expanding, studies spe­cifically addressing FOS remain scarce. Our contribution relies on a dual methodology: the design of three pedagogical sequences for a veterinary French textbook, and inter­views with four co-authors involved in this international project supported by the AUF. The analysis highlights several benefits of AI. It facilitates the creation of materials aligned with the CEFR, quickly generates standardized texts (CVs, cover letters, reports), provides varied exercises, and enables the simulation of contextualized professional situ­ations. These tools are considerable time-savers for teachers that foster learner autonomy, particularly through action-oriented and interactive tasks. However, the study also underlines important limitations. Some generated content proves redundant or imprecise, terminological reliability requires careful checking, and the authenticity of AI-generated texts remains a challenge. Human expertise is therefore indispensable, for both adapting materials and ensuring their pedagogical and discipli­nary validity. These findings stress the central role of teacher reflexivity and critical eval­uation when integrating AI into language education. In conclusion, AI should be regarded as a pedagogical assistant rather than a sub­stitute, offering promising perspectives for veterinary FOS. This reflective case study emphasizes the need to develop critical AI literacy among both teachers and students, and calls for further experimentation, particularly through evaluating the textbook with learners. \ KEYWORDS: Generative Artificial Intelligence, French for Specific Purposes (FOS), lan-guage didactics, text authenticity, AI literacy

Title:Umetna inteligenca za francoščino za posebne namene : med inovacijami in didaktičnimi izzivi
Abstract:
Prispevek proučuje uporabo generativne umetne inteligence (UI) pri poučevanju francoščine kot jezika stroke (FOS), s posebnim poudarkom na veterinarski medicini. Čeprav število raziskav o uporabi UI pri pouku jezikov hitro narašča, so raziskave, osredotočene na pouk FOS, še vedno redke. Naša raziskava temelji na dveh metodoloških pristopih: oblikovanju treh pedagoških enot za učbenik francoščine za veterinarje in intervjujih s štirimi soavtoricami, ki so sodelovale pri mednarodnem projektu izdelave učbenika ob podpori AUF.Naša analiza je pokazala več prednosti uporabe UI. Slednja namreč omogoča pripravo gradiv v skladu s skupnim evropskim referenčnim okvirom za jezike (CEFR), hitro generira standardizirana besedila (življenjepise, motivacijska pisma, poročila), ponuja raznovrstne vaje in omogoča simulacijo kontekstualiziranih poklicnih situacij. Vse to učiteljem omogoča znaten prihranek časa, hkrati pa zlasti interaktivne naloge, osredotočene na dejavno rabo jezika, spodbujajo avtonomijo študentov. V prispevku opozarjamo tudi na omejitve uporabe UI. Nekatere generirane vsebine se ponavljajo ali so netočne, raba terminologije zahteva skrbno preverjanje, izziv pa predstavlja tudi avtentičnost besedil, ki jih ustvari UI. Strokovno znanje ljudi je zato nepogre-šljivo – tako za prilagajanje gradiv kot za zagotavljanje njihove pedagoške in strokovne ustreznosti. Te ugotovitve kažejo na ključno vlogo refleksije in kritične presoje učiteljev pri uporabi UI pri pouku jezikov. UI je torej treba obravnavati kot pedagoškega pomočnika, ki ponuja obetavne možnosti pri pouku FOS za veterinarje, ne pa kot pedagoški nadomestek. Naša refleksivna študija primera poudarja potrebo po razvoju kritične pismenosti na področju UI tako med učitelji kot študenti ter je osnova za nadaljnje raziskave, zlasti na področju evalvacije učbenika v praksi.
