V magistrski nalogi sem predstavila življenje in delo skladatelja Girolama Frescobaldija s poudarkom na Prvi knjigi toccat. Sledi razlaga nekaterih značilnosti glasbenega stila v času Frescobaldijevega delovanja in vpogled v tedanjo glasbeno terminologijo. Le ta je v slovenskem jeziku zelo malo obravnavana, zato sem črpala podatke o sami teoriji iz strokovne literature, ki je v nemškem, italijanskem ali angleškem jeziku. Nato sledi glavni del naloge, in sicer prevod Frescobaldijevega predgovora k Toccatam.

• Title: Girolamo Frescobaldi's preface to the toccatas

Abstract

In my master’s thesis, I presented the life and work of the composer Girolamo Frescobaldi, with a focus on his First Book of Toccatas. This is followed by an explanation of certain stylistic features of music during Frescobaldi’s time and an insight into the musical terminology of the period. Since this terminology is very rarely addressed in the Slovene language, I drew on scholarly literature in German, Italian, and English for the theoretical background. The main part of the thesis is a translation of Frescobaldi’s preface to the Toccatas.
