Successful professional activity is important for the satisfaction of an individual who wants to contribute to the community. In autobiographical literizations, however, the success of the individual is relativized in relation to the state of the community. The article discusses three professional autobiographies that represent careers in the Kočevje Region in three periods: immediately after World War II, during the independence process of the Republic of Slovenia, and during the time in which the pandemic occurred. In each of them, literary value more or less gives way to documentary value. We find that negative values persist in the community, which the authors of the books in question (Miloš Humek, Branko Kovač and Bruno Urh) attempt, in a Sisyphean manner, to counteract with their professional activities. When autobiographies create fictional superstructures of reality, during the actualization of literature, which inevitably occurs in the act of reading, knowledge of factual conditions realistically contextualizes what the author intended to abstract.
