This article presents the development of a battery pack for an electric race car designed for the Formula Student competition. It outlines key technical challenges posed by the rules, selection of battery cells, system configuration, mechanical and electrical protection, and thermal management. Special attention is given to a custom-developed Battery Management System (BMS), including its architecture, communication, balancing algorithms, and testing.
