This thesis presents the history of electric bicycles and scooters, their composition, and the problems that arise during their use, as well as other effects caused by their use, such as the impact on the environment and the health of users.
In writing, I relied mostly on articles from abroad, where they experience the same problems that we can also observe at home. The accidents I described are not limited to a specific part of the world and can also happen here.
I concluded that the lithium-ion battery is of great importance. Without it, we cannot imagine electric bikes and scooters, as it is their key component. I looked for the causes of battery malfunctions and fires. However, a vehicle without a person is irrelevant if it is not used.
Electric bikes and scooters are playing an increasingly important role in traffic, which brings new challenges. The use of these vehicles, especially electric bikes, has a beneficial effect on the health of the user and reduces the use of other vehicles with exhaust systems that pollute the air.
The essence of my thesis was to determine the quality of electric bicycles and scooters in traffic and their fire safety or vulnerability. Electric bicycles are considered safe vehicles in terms of both traffic safety and fire safety. Electric scooters pose a greater risk of accidents from a traffic safety perspective and a greater risk of fire. Both vehicles pose an increased risk of fire when using cheaper batteries, which are usually used as replacements for the original batteries. With increased safety awareness, we can reduce the risk of unfortunate events.
