Growing demands to reduce the environmental impact of industry are driving the development of alternative materials and components. Water hydraulics offers significant potential for progress. The aim of this thesis was to develop a fast-switching water-hydraulic 2/2 spool valve using materials suitable for operation in water. Tribological tests of friction, wear and surface analysis were performed, along with hydraulic measurements of the designed valves. The results show that selected alternative materials enable the development of a fast and reliable valve for water-hydraulic applications.
