Abstract
Magistrsko delo obravnava prenovo stavbe stare pošte na Robbovi ulici v Ljubljani. Nekdanja poštna garaža in delavnica je po opustitvi prvotne dejavnosti dobila novo namembnost: poleg Gospodarskega razstavišča, ki objekt uporablja kot skladišče, njegove prostore uporabljata tudi Mladinsko gledališče Ljubljana in mladinski center pod vodstvom Zavoda BOB. Občinski prostorski načrt predvideva rušitev stare pošte in širitev zelenih površin Severnega mestnega parka. Delo analizira delovanje mladinskih centrov v Ljubljani in njihov pomen ter podrobneje obravnava organizacijo in program mladinskega centra Zavoda BOB, skupaj z njegovimi potrebami in razvojnimi usmeritvami.

Title:Young post : concept design for the renovation of the old post office in Ljubljana into a youth center
Abstract:
The master’s thesis addresses the renovation of the former post office building on Robbova Street in Ljubljana. Following the discontinuation of its original function as a postal garage and workshop, the building acquired a new purpose: in addition to being used as a storage facility by Gospodarsko razstavišče, it also accommodates the Mladinsko gledališče Ljubljana and a youth centre operated by Zavod BOB. The municipal spatial plan foresees the demolition of the former post office and the expansion of the green areas of Severni mestni park. The thesis examines the operation of youth centers in Ljubljana and their significance, with a detailed focus on the organization and program of Zavod BOB’s youth center, together with its needs and future development goals. An analysis of the historical and contemporary architectural and social context of the site is carried out. Based on the findings, criteria for the valorization of the building are established, taking into account its potential for accommodating the proposed programs. Particular attention is given to the question of whether demolition is justified, and an alternative solution is proposed that enables the building’s preservation and further development. The proposed renovation dedicates the entire building exclusively to the needs of the youth centre. A steel structure, composed of repurposed scaffolding elements, is added to resolve accessibility to the first floor while simultaneously defining the centre’s outdoor spaces and providing a framework for the users’ self-initiated activities. The project also addresses the external arrangement of the site, transforming the degraded forecourt into a park that supports the centre’s diverse programme. Through the renovation of the former post office into a youth centre, the proposal ensures the presence of a community-making programme in an area currently lacking such functions.
