Background: Occupational therapy plays an important role in stroke rehabilitation by supporting clients to re-engage in meaningful occupations. The purpose of this paper is to present a case study of occupational therapy intervention following a stroke, using the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework – Fourth Edition (OTPF-4). Methods: A 24- year-old male was admitted to the Neurology Clinic in Ljubljana due to an ischemic stroke, resulting in left-sided hemiplegia, neglect, and impaired sensation. OTPF-4 guided OT intervention for setting goals and to guide OT intervention. Results: The 5-week intervention focused on improving the performance of basic activities of daily living. By the end of the intervention, the client demonstrated increased independence and required less assistance from others. Conclusions: The use of OTPF-4 proved to be an appropriate basis for structured and goal-oriented occupational therapy intervention for a person after a stroke. Using the OTPF-4 framework, we developed client-centered, occupation-based goals, systematically evaluated occupational performance, and modified therapeutic interventions in response to the client’s needs.
