The aim of the thesis was to design a corporate identity (CI) in accordance with the wishes of the client, dr. Marko Samec, director of the Library Šmarje pri Jelšah. The CI includes elements such as the logo, colour palette, typography and slogan, which together form the company’s identity. To ensure a professional and visually consistent appearance of printed elements such as business cards, letterheads, envelopes and leaflets, it is essential not only to work closely and communicate with the client, but also to prepare the files properly. Forthis reason, we paid particular attention to graphic design as a key acpect of creating the printed elements of the CI. Our aim was therefore to produce properly prepared printed materilas that would maintain visual consistency and integrity.
Theoretical part, we briefly introduced the meaning of CI and its printed elements, then focused on all the steps of proper graphic preparation, including the correct choice of PDF document type, colour space, resolution, type of graphics, image capture formats and finally the correct export of the files for printing.
Experimental part of the thesis outlines the steps and process involved in producing a bespoke CI. The design considered the client's guidelines and wishes, and was inspired by the image of the city of Porto. Based on all the information and initial requirements, we developed a new CI while retaining some existing elements, such as certain colours, the slogan, and the owl symbol. We also prepared a business card, correspondence sheet, envelope and leaflet, all adhering the consistent visual guidelines. All design processes were clearly described, including the choice of export settings for the graphic templates, the design procedures, the working methodology and the results of the final design solutions.
Through research of the subject, review of the processes and proper technical execution, we achieved satisfactory results and found that careful graphic preparation and consistent communication with the client are essential for a properly designed CI, professional appearance and visual perfection of the product.
