Abstract

Title:Keylogger Technologies
Abstract:
Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important in the digital world, where threats are not limited to external attacks but also include tools that can discreetly record user activity. One such tool is the keylogger, which is used both for security testing and malicious purposes. These can be either software or hardware devices that capture keyboard inputs, enabling access to sensitive information. In this thesis, I explored the development and functionality of keyloggers and their impact on cybersecurity. To gain a deeper understanding, I developed my own software keylogger and tested it in different forms—one version that remained undetected by antivirus programs and another that was quickly identified as a threat. Additionally, I analyzed the hardware keylogger Key Croc, examining its advantages, limitations, and possible applications. I also developed a program for this device that enables the retrieval of system information from the connected computer. My research has shown that keyloggers remain a serious threat to information security. At the same time, they provide insight into detection and protection mechanisms that are crucial for defending against such attacks. This thesis thus contributes to a better understanding of their functionality and potential protective measures.
