Early second language acquisition in Slovenian kindergarten

The paper presents the attitudes of preschool teachers and preschoolteachers’ assistants toward children’s acquisition of a second language in Slovenian kindergartens. The results of the survey, in which 458 preschool teachers and preschool teachers’ assistants from randomly selected kindergartens in Slovenia participated by filling out a questionnaire, showed that the respondents have positive attitudes towards early second language acquisition in Slovenian kindergartens. It would therefore be necessary to set up a training programme for preschool teachers for the early learningof a foreign language.
