Primerjava statističnih podatkov o varnosti letalskega in železniškega prometa

Analiza nezgode v civilnem letalstvu in železniškem prometu med leti 1995–2023 kaže različne trende in vzorce. V civilnem letalstvu so nezgode relativno redke, izjema sta izstopajoči leti 2016 in 2022. Vzroki nezgode so najpogosteje "drugi razlogi" (89 %), medtem ko tehniške varnostne pomanjkljivosti, kot so okvare motorja ali pristajalne težave, predstavljajo manjši delež. Smrtnost v letalskem prometu se zmanjšuje, vendar so velike nezgode še vedno prisotne. V železniškem prometu opazimo močan upad nezgode in žrtev, predvsem zaradi izboljšane varnosti in infrastrukture. Izstopajo le nekatere države, ki opazno manj vlagajo v varnost. Korelacija med številom prebivalcev, potnikov in nezgodami je v letalskem prometu nizka, medtem ko ima v železniškem prometu povečan trend znižanja nezgode.

• Title: Comparison of Statistical Data on the Safety of Air and Rail Transport

Abstract

The analysis of accidents in civil aviation and railway transport between 1995 and 2023 shows different trends and patterns. In civil aviation, accidents are relatively rare, but notable years include 2016 and 2022. The most common causes of accidents are categorized as "other reasons" (89%), while technical safety deficiencies, such as engine failures or landing issues, represent a smaller share. Fatalities in aviation are decreasing, although major accidents still occur. In railway transport, there is a significant decline in accidents and casualties, mainly due to improved safety measures and infrastructure. Only a few countries stand out for noticeably lower investments in safety. The correlation between population, number of passengers, and accidents is low in aviation, whereas in railway transport there is an increasing trend of accident reduction.
