The thesis addresses the management of a domestic digital book catalog with
an emphasis on effective organization, search, and access to physical books. Despite
the existence of the national bibliographic information system COBISS,
which allows access to books, journals, and other materials from Slovenian libraries,
it is also important to manage one’s own collection of books. To facilitate
this process, software for managing a domestic digital book catalog is explored.
The solution also uses optical character recognition technology, which enables
faster and easier addition of books to the catalog.
The thesis presents the implementation of a client and server for the digital
catalog, the operation of a mobile application as a client, and a website as a server,
as well as a data model for sorting books. The conclusion provides findings and
opportunities for improving the current implementation.
