Abstract

Title:Urban morphology as a tool for urban heat island mitigation : generative and environmental analyses on the case of Izola
Abstract:
In this graduation thesis, the influence of urban morphology is investigated on the occurrence of the urban heat island. By combining environmental analyses and generative tools, key morphological parameters and factors that contribute to the formation or reduction of UHI is identified. Using the examples of selected areas in the city of Izola, it is determined how morphological factors, such as building density, building height, and the ratio of built-up to open areas, affect microclimatic conditions. Based on the obtained analyses, new scenarios or designs are evaluated.

Keywords:urban morphology, urban heat islands, parametric modeling, environmental analysis
