Introduction: Digitalization significantly influences nursing by reshaping work processes and requiring the development of new competencies. In modern nursing practice, nurses use various types of digital technologies, which affect the performance of their tasks, responsibilities, and collaboration within healthcare teams. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis was to identify the main areas in which digitalization affects nurses’ work. Methods: A literature review was conducted. The literature search was performed using the PubMed database with the following search string: (impact OR effect OR influence) AND (digitalization OR digital transformation OR digital technology OR digital health OR digital competencies OR digital skills OR digital literacy) AND (nurses OR nursing) AND (tasks OR documentation OR duties OR responsibilities). Included were empirical and review studies published in English between 2019 and 2025 that examine the impact of digital technologies on nursing practice. The exclusion criteria included non–peer-reviewed articles, duplicates, bachelor’s and master’s theses, studies not related to nursing, and articles published before 2019. Results: Digitalization facilitates documentation, enables faster access to data, improves traceability and work efficiency, and increases cognitive workload. The lack of work equipment, insufficient support from management, inadequate training and education, and limited interaction between nurses and patients represent challenges and barriers that nurses face in the use of digital technology. Discussion and Conclusion: Effective implementation of digital technologies in nursing requires adequate technical support, continuous education, and the development of nurses’ digital competencies to ensure high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care.
