The purpose of this thesis was to create an online solution using the Framer platform and, in the process, to gain important insights into the design and development of website process itself. We were looking for a solution for a provider who needed a website to showcase the Reload Academy, which offers organised courses of learning how to develop video games. The website is made for pupils, parents and teachers who want to collaborate with the academy. The website was thoughtfully designed using the design thinking method, which involves five steps; empathy, defining, ideating, prototyping and evaluating. Our goal was to create a website that was as aesthetically pleasing as well as functional, or rather, a website with a good graphic interface as well as user experience. The latter was tested by evaluating survey questions, standardized questionnaires and two web-based software applications.
We learned that optimization for the mobile phone is a must, because most users access websites through a mobile phone or a computer. We learned that the information about courses, as well as the registration form and mostly asked questions are easy to find. We must further emphasize the contact information. Users liked the look of the website the most. After analyzing their ratings and the scenarios they solved, we concluded that the website is easy to use. In the SUS questionnaire we obtained an average score of 80.3 points, which according to the references has a good grade. In the evaluation of the short version of the UEQ questionnaire we obtained a pragmatic quality value of 2, a hedonic quality value of 1.4 and a general impression of quality value of 1.7. Considering references, our UEQ questionnaire score is considered to be good. When evaluating the NPS questionnaire, we obtained a score of -20, which shows that improvements are still needed. The loading speed of our website is 3.5 seconds, which can be further reduced by compressing images. We need to store key content such as images, html documents and fonts locally as our website is heavily dependent on an external source. We took into account the fact that we evaluated a very small number of users (N=10), which is too small for relevant results on bounce rates, time spent on site, scenarios and standard questionnaires and the conclusions drawn as a result.
Based on the positive results of the questionnaires and the successfully completed scenarios, we can conclude that the website has been made according to modern design guidelines, that it is structured in a meaningful way and that it is optimized for different devices, or better, that it is made both aesthetically and functionally.
