Hladne oaze v objemu kulturne dediščine : revitalizacija starega Kranja z ukrepi blaženja urbanega toplotnega otoka

Pojav urbanega toplotnega otoka se z napredovanjem globalnih podnebnih sprememb povečuje in škoduje tako ljudem kot okolju. Območja varovane kulturne dediščine so zaradi vročine ogrožena z vidikov materialnosti in identitete, uvajanje ukrepov blaženja pa je zaradi kompleksnosti varovanih območij poseben izziv. Naloga na primeru mesta Kranj raziskuje možne sinergije med varovanjem nepremične kulturne dediščine in ukrepi za blaženje vročine v funkcionalno razvrednotenem starem mestnem jedru. Po principu urbane akupunkture se za šest mikrolokacij na podlagi predhodnih analiz in vrednotenja predlaga prenovo javnega prostora. Revitalizacija starega Kranja temelji na izboljšanju urbanega udobja z ukrepi senčenja in ozelenitve ter povezovanju mikrolokacij in kanjona reke Kokre s senčno potjo. Prek simulacije spremembe temperature v programu ENVI-met se ugotavlja učinek ukrepov na urbano udobje v javnem prostoru.

• Title: Cool oases embraced by cultural heritage : revitalization of old Kranj with urban heat island mitigation measures

Abstract

The urban heat island effect is increasing with the progression of global climate change and is harmful for both people and the environment. Protected cultural heritage areas are endangered by heat in terms of materiality and identity, while the implementation of mitigation measures presents a particular challenge due to the complexity of protected zones. Using the case of the city of Kranj, this study explores possible synergies between the preservation of immovable cultural heritage and measures for heat mitigation in the functionally degraded old town. Following the principle of urban acupuncture, the renewal of public space is proposed for six micro-locations, based on preliminary analyses and assessments. The revitalization of old Kranj is grounded in improving urban comfort through shading and greening measures, as well as connecting the micro-locations and the Kokra river canyon with a “cool path”. The impact of the measures on urban comfort in public space is assessed through temperature change simulations in the ENVI-met software.
