Prostorska reorganizacija mejnega pasu Vrtojba - Štandrež v medkulturno stičišče

Diplomsko delo obravnava mejni koridor Vrtojba – Štandrež, kjer se mejni rob kaže v ohranjeni prostorski ločnici med urbanimi tkivi, monofunkcionalni in monotoni rabi brez izrazite identitete, neizkoriščenem razvojnem potencialu, pomanjkanju prečnih povezav, odsotnosti zelenih in prepustnih površin ter šibki podpori trajnostni in javni mobilnosti. Kot ena izmed rešitev se predlaga vzpostavitev novega transverzalnega prostora, ki uvaja model komplementarne rabe prostora z vsebinami, ki povezujejo kulturne, gastronomske, učne, doživljajske in logistične funkcije. Ukrep oblikuje prepoznaven urbani značaj območja ter ga preobraža iz tranzitnega koridorja v ciljno točko in stičišče obeh kultur. S pregledom dobrih praks iz primerljivih mejnih okolij določam umestitve programov, da območje postane privlačno za širši nabor uporabnikov ter se iz mejnega roba preoblikuje v stičišče ljudi in dejavnosti. Zasnova vzpostavi mehko cono prehoda med državama in aktivno učenje o skupni zgodovini, hkrati pa spodbuja preplet obeh kultur in odpira dialog o čezmejnem povezovanju.

• Title: Spatial reorganization of the Vrtojba - Sant’Andrea border area into an intercultural hub

Abstract

The thesis deals with the border corridor between Vrtojba and Sant' Andrea, where the border edge is manifested in the preserved spatial divide between urban fabrics, monofunctional and monotonous use without a distinct identity, untapped development potential, a lack of cross-connections, an absence of green and permeable surfaces, and weak support for sustainable and public mobility. One of the proposed solutions is the establishment of a new transversal space that introduces a model of complementary use of space with content that connects cultural, gastronomic, educational, experiential, and logistical functions. The measure shapes the recognizable urban character of the area and transforms it from a transit corridor into a destination and a meeting point of both cultures. By reviewing good practices from comparable border environments, I determine the placement of programs so that the area becomes attractive to a wider range of users and is transformed from a border edge into a hub of people and activities. The design establishes a soft transition zone between the two countries and promotes active learning about their shared history, while encouraging the intertwining of both cultures and opening a dialogue on cross-border integration.
