In this paper we have addressed the influence of the horse's intended use on hoof care and the differences in care approaches. The aim of the work was to present the differences in hoof care among different categories of horses. We primarily focused on sport horses, but also included recreational and working horses. We emphasized hoof anatomy and conformation, as well as enviromental influences, since all these factors together help determine the appropriate hoof care techniqe. We found that working horses often require greater hoof protection, due to higher mechanical loads. Sport horses require tailored hood care to optimize discipline-specific movement. A horse should be shod when the hoof wears down faster than in grows or regenarates. For all the above mentioned groups of horses, regular and individualized hoof care is crucial, as it reduces the risk of hoof related issues. The literature analysis confirmed that a combination of hoof care, nutrition, enviromental influences and genetics affects the condition of the hooves and the overall well-being of the horse.
