Abstract
Zaključna seminarska naloga obravnava vpliv Ripove Iconologie na umetnikovi poslikavi in primerja ikonografsko posebnost s sočasnimi upodobitvami v avstrijskem in nemškem prostoru.

Title:The Four Continents in the Oeuvre of Franc Jelovšek
Abstract:
Franc Jelovšek decorated the Church of St. Peter in Ljubljana and the Church of the Virgin Mary at Sladka Gora with extensive fresco cycles. In both, he depicted the motif of the Four Continents, with particular attention drawn to the original conception of Europe, which Jelovšek represented in armor. This thesis examines the impact of Cesare Ripa’s Iconologia on these frescoes and compares Jelovšek’s iconographic innovation with contemporary depictions in the Austrian and German cultural context.
